I successfully used pwdump7, but I can't get mdcrack to work. It says "unable to allocate enough memory," (within seconds of typing the command) but is this really because I don't have enough RAM or is there another issue I'm not grasping? Do I have to try another version of mdcrack or something? I already tried on another computer too.

EDIT: I am not running wine. I did the above on Windows Vista, and I have also tried it on Windows 7. May try Windows XP next.

Besides that I'm fairly sure there's more efficient ways to crack Windows passwords. (Ophcrack did it very well last time I tried.) How much RAM do you have in the machine you're running this on? And how much is marked as free before you start it?

i remember i was getting the same error long ago. did u try it on XP? also try the older version, it should work fine.
i thing the soft was not updated for a few years, there are better alternatives. i also had great success with online hach crackers;'
