Cant find Wep key. please help!?
My router is a netopia which is a standard issue from eircom broadband. Its model no. is: 3347nwg-Eir. I got this wireless router from a friend of a friend but i didnt get the wep key and for various reasons it is not possible to contact the previous owners. The key is not written on the bottom as i have checked and tried all and any numbers. I cant hack it as there must be traffic to do that plus my wireless card must be the only one in existance that is not compatible with the set of windows packet sniffers airsnort etc. I have gone so far as to physicaly open the router to look for the number but no luck. Please help

If you have access to the admin interface, you can just change the WEP key. If not, you've got a problem.
You can google around for standard passwords for that model of wireless router and try those. In some cases a factory reset can help too.

On the subject of default passwords; I've had these sites bookmarked for years:

http://www.routerpasswords.com/ // This one actually seems a little better then the second one I was going to post. between the two you should be able to find any default password.

Just hold that reset button down on the back of the router, usually a little pin hole...

as mentioned, connect to router via cable and try to log in and see or change the pass. if the default pass not working, u could reset the router to its default setting (by holding the reset button for 8 second, or by holding the reset button while powering off, ar maybe other way for ur router), then use the default pass, log in, change the wifi pass.

If can not find the router password, the other easy way to find your WEP key is to use http://www.sterjosoft.com/wireless-passwords.html or http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/wireless_key.html

It's worth noting that this only works if the WEP key is stored on the machine you're running the program on. It just checks for networks that you've previously connected to and stored the key for.
