SoftICE Problem

Post by worm » Mon Sep 05, 2005 5:51 pm

If you want to use SoftIce on Windows NT 5 Builds or higher than 1924, you must turn off the read-only memory protection. Do you want setup to set the registry and reboot your machine with the new settings now?
I am skeptical about hitting Yes to this, though it is the only way I am going to be able to install SoftICE. Wouldn't turning read-only memory off be really dangerous? I guess I just want to reassurance on this before I install.

Hello,

I am using a laptop which runs on Win XP + SP2.

I installed Driversuite 3.2 (latest version actually) on my Laptop and tried to start SOFTICE, but l get always this error message:

ERROR CODE 31
A DEVICE ATTACHED TO THE SYSTEM IS NOT FUNCTIONING
PLEASE CHECK EVENT VIEWER FOR MORE INFORMATION

after that the DOS-Box is closed.

Why happens all the time that error?? What the hell is wrong.......
If there is anybody out there who can help me, please reply !!!!!

thanks

Yeah, for some reason I couldnt get it to run on my XP box either. So, I have it installed on an old Laptop which I use to boot to DOS. Other than that, in Windows I use a combination of HIEW and WinDisASM
