Reset Windows XP Pro / Media Admin Password

Post by sparkyuiop » Fri Sep 18, 2009 10:29 pm

If anyone wants a quick fix to default the Administrator password to '12345' on XP Pro or XP Media Edition then I have uploaded a nifty 8MB ISO that will do it in 2 minutes. This may also work on the Home Edition but it is untested.
Just burn the ISO and boot from it, agree to reset the Administrator password to 12345, select run as Windows XP if it asks, remove disk, reboot and your done!
This is completely virus free, I'm not an arsehole and just trying to help out after I searched all night to do this myself.
Regards

After a quick look from a friend, the iso looks like a legit bootable CD. However, users should download and run it at their own risk. Remember, you're downloading and running a bootable CD that you downloaded from a hacker forum, that could do anything it wants :P

I obfuscated the link because we can never be too sure 8)

Got any technical details on what the ISO is doing?
My effort to help you will never exceed your effort to explain the problem.

Hi, just to clarify. The iso is basically the setup files from XP Pro with another program that hacks out the admin password in existing installations without screwing up the users encrypted documents.
As I said, it took me all night to get this and I only uploaded to help out anyone facing the same issue. If anyone wants the Home Edition or Vista iso then let me know and when I get 5 minutes I'll upload it for you.
Oh just to point out, I know nothing about hacking and came across this site via a Google search on the subject. It's good advice that you make people aware though.
If I can be of any further help, please feel free to mail me.

Phill.

Hmm
yeah well this sounds dodgy as F***
i have NO idea why the OP didnt just paste a link to http://home.eunet.no/pnordahl/ntpasswd/ <- that.
EDIT

seems that the guy has automated this process. maybe its not too dodgy after all :D

Konboot could be nice too for this. It boots from a CD, messes with the windows kernel during execution a bit (only in RAM) and then it allows you to log in with no password. No changes are made to the installed system, so no one will ever know...

There's cd's for windows XP trough windows 7.
Oh yeah, there's a Linux version too.

there was also an app around that patched some files at boot time, (permentant thing like)
but it allowed you to type any password and it would be accepted.
i am trying to find it now :P

there hundred of ways to reset Windows password. why would i use some 'doggy - automated' boot cd? i dont mind pressing a few buttons, but i m sure no side effects. i dont say its doggy, but more info/examples would make it clearer... :)
