I saw a report on TV that law enforcement organisations like the CIA and for example the german Bundesnachrichtendienst can hack themselves into the computers of their targets. And I'm wondering how exactly are they doing that? Is it safe to say "not any different than criminal hackers"?
Can these organisations hack themselves easily through the Windows 7 Firewall, or would you rather say it's not a challenge for them? If the latter is the truth how exactly do they do it? Are they making use of trojans just like other hackers too? And how exactly are they infecting the computers?
Just asking out of interest because of this report.

Re: How Do Law Enforcement Organisations Hack?
maybe i am too suspicious, but i think windows os has backdoors, integrated on purpose, in order to "fight terrorism" as they call it. even kaspersky has to obey CIA if he wants to get his internet password up and working. maybe some tools not available to public. they also have very big resources (universities, etc). if they want to crack ur RSA key, just split between a few universities, and in 2 months they can crack it. user have no chance of cracking it. also they could have agreement with ur ISP. so when u thing u go to some site and download porn, it could a clone site, downloading and installing some soft.
thats why look towards OpenSource!!! linux is an example

Generally, if you're not as paranoid as stasik, yes, they use the same techniques as other hackers. They'll generally try to snap up the very best to work for them.

They hack the same way everybody else hacks, except that they have something on their side: the color of law! They can issue subpoenas and warrants to get passwords, conversations, and other sensitive info. Think of it as hacking somebody when you already know pretty much everything you need to social engineer them and their close friends.

HAHAHA what a cool idea. I've tried a few times Linux, but I'm not so much into it, I just like Windows 7 too much, I'll just look into ways to secure Win7 good enough up.stasik wrote: so when u thing u go to some site and download porn, it could a clone site, downloading and installing some soft.

Thanks to the other two commenters.
Would you guys recommend to use the Windows 7 firewall or rather a different software, if yes, which one?

If you don't have some software you really need, that only runs on windows, I'd say it's worth your time to at least check out linux.
Otherwise, ClamWin for antivirus. As for firewalls, the last time I used windows for an extended amount of time blackice was the hot ticket. I don't even know if that still exists now though.
