wireless network connection flickering

Post by B-Con » Wed Feb 23, 2005 4:07 am

My laptop is on my wireless network here in the house, but for some reason the connection keeps "flickering", namely, all of a sudden it'll disconnect and reconnect almost instantaniously..... it hardly matters, but it's really annoying when trying to download any file bigger than, say, 3mb, because then I have to start over again about ever 2mb worth :?

any ideas as to what might be the cause?

What is your signal strength?
Does the problem exist/persist if you get closer or farther from the access point?

signal strength is @ max, it's sitting 5 feet fromt the wireless router....

now that I think about it, I didn' thave this problem before I enabled WEP on the network.... lemme try it w/o that.....

I had the same problem. Even had my router swapped out (under warranty) cause I couldnt find anything........ turned out to be a neighbour's AP on the same broadcast channel. I changed mine and never had the problems again.

Look for cargo vans outside your house with government plates.
