If You Were A Programming Language
If you were a programming language, which one would you be?
I'd be Python, self explanitory.

I'd be HTML, because I'm not a programming language.
I guess I'm not what you'd call creative.

I'd be VB6, hard to handle and pretty much worthless.

I'd be ruby, because I'm damn sexy. And also I don't end my sentences with semicolons.

I would be haskell, because I'm lazy(Props to those of you who understand the pun here, heh) and because if I get a little time to think about a problem, I'll come up with a surprisingly efficient and elegant solution to it.
You should all learn haskell. Do so, and then consider your minds blown, and you can all join my club.

I too would be Python, but with a Java baby in my belly and a PHP toddler at my side. Who the F*** could seriously only pick one? I think that is a rounded family. :D

Re: If You Were A Programming Language
Said programmer shall pick one language and one language only, it's different from a "what's the best language" thread. Yee shall pick one language resembling the programmer as a person only. I expect this task to be difficult, but it can be completed with great success :D Perhaps you are the C language, capable of many different task cross platform.123 wrote:Thor wrote:If you were a programming language, which one would you be?

I believe he is also perl, goes out of his way to be difficult and confuse the situation for those reading itThor wrote:Said programmer shall pick one language and one language only, it's different from a "what's the best language" thread. Re: If You Were A Programming Language
Interesting, i've heard good things about scheme. As in, learning this early on will give you a particularly good understanding of programming in general.horze wrote:My life is filled whit useful parenthesis and my personality is kind of built in layers, (If I were a vegetable I would definitely be an onion!) so I think that if I were a program language I would be Scheme.

I learned Java first and then Scheme (only basic) and it gave me an other view of programming, besides that it is fun.
While OOP allow you to think in a complex way Scheme forces you to think in simple steps and I believe that is a good combination.

I learned VB first (for a class), then went straight to x86, then C. Am I fucked?Thor wrote:Interesting, i've heard good things about scheme. Re: If You Were A Programming Language
No, just keep coding. Picking a decent "starting language" might help, but by no means will it F*** you over from learning other languages. I went from VB to Perl to C++, and I'm still coding (in other languages as well!)psilocybin wrote:I learned VB first (for a class), then went straight to x86, then C. I would be C. Old, grumpy, hard to work with, but useful enough that it would be stupid to completely get rid of me. Pissing people off is fun.
