Desktop.exe

Post by Helix_viral » Fri Mar 23, 2007 3:19 pm

Is this the actual desktop program or is it a virus or trojan? from what i've read on the internet so far its a trojan/virus and i'm not completely sure becauseit makes sense for it to be named desktop so it will not be deleted, but i'm trying to get my girlfriends copmuter fixed and AVG found this and moved it to the vault, which really doesn't help me at all.

Very likely it's a virus/trojan of some sort.

Try renaming it and see what happens. But yes, most likely it's an ugly thing you should delete.

If it's been moved to the Vault by AVG it's already not running anymore, but yeah it was a virus. There's no .exe for the desktop. It's just part of explorer.exe and it's depencencies.
You can have AVG delete it from it's vault if you like. There's no reason to keep it really.
