Mac Shuts Down by Itself?

Post by RevAdInc » Fri May 14, 2010 12:18 pm

Hi Can anyone tell me WHY my old G4 shuts down randomly? I changed the internal battery but that didn't help. Sometimes it smells like something is burning inside???
Any help would be appreciated. :?:

I'm guessing the fan is burned out, which is causing your machine to overheat. I had the same problem with my Toshiba Satellite. Any computer repair shop can make the adjustments if you can't yourself. In the meantime, I suggest lowering your screen brightness as far down as possible, and avoid programs and files that will cause your computer to work harder than usual (ie, videos, games, etc). This will buy you a little more time before your machine shuts off on you again.

Lemme know the results.
