Did i just run trojan?

Post by SpaceandTime » Mon Jan 23, 2012 2:02 am

Hi, I downloaded an .exe file today, I did opened it and UAC did not appear! its just opened without asking for any permissions like other .exe files, I have kaspersky internet security 2012 installed, Its says the file is clear, I scanned it in virustotal and here is the result:
https://www.virustotal.com/file/fb0060f ... 327301830/
Many of them said its a trojan but i trust kaspersky and i want to make sure here, Please some one tell me if its safe or not because i've already opened it and i'm afraid now.
(Do not download it except if you are able to analyze files)

Given the result of that virus scan, I would say yes, you did run a trojan.
You can give removing it with antivirus a shot, but generally I would say just re-install windows.
If we're breaking the rules, then how come you can't catch us? You can't find us? I know why. Cause, it's ... MAGIC!

Thanks for the reply, I will take re-installign windows as my last step, I already have kaspersky internet security 2012, I also installed Malewarebytes and did not find anything, I need someone to analyze the file and tell me if its just another false positive warning or a true trojan.

I came across this website called anubis:
anubis.iseclab.org/
which analysed unknown executables for you.

Start off by running a free version of malwarebytes
https://www.malwarebytes.org/free/

MAKE SURE YOU UPDATE THE DEF'S BEFORE RUNNING A "FULL SCAN"

Once that completes, reboot as requested. Then download Combofix and run it
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/combofix/

Once that is done. Id run temp file cleaner like CCleaner to rid all the tmp files from the system. Most virii like to hid in tmp/appdata locations.

Once this is done, report back and let us know how your running.
