cracking a router...
Okay, you may have noticed in another thread that I mentioned I have access to several networks. That's great, but what's a network if you... cant get around... if you know what I mean. ;) lol
I know, I'm making it sound like some godlike trick, which I'm sure it's not that difficult. Anywho... How do I crack the password for a router? I tried the defaults, it's been changed. :( Any help?

Well, I assume it's a wireless router because you posted in the Wireless Technology forum. If so, use AirSnort.
And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger
those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers.
And you will know my name is the Lord
when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

OOOOOOoooooo
Like WEP?
There are tools to make the packets fly by on that router....
Actually you could go download whoppix (live linux cd) and check out

Hmmm... Maybe you guys understand what I'm asking and I dont understand how you're answering... Or you dont understand what I'm asking.
It's a Linksys WRT54G wireless router I'm trying to break into the 192.168.1.1 admin on. I know that's the model number because on the password popup it has that on there. Well I tried the default password for it and it doesn't work.
But if I was to brute it, is there an app for such attacks? I mean, on a popup window for a router?

Look into brute forcing it with, say, accessdiver....un4given wrote:Hmmm... Maybe you guys understand what I'm asking and I dont understand how you're answering... Or you dont understand what I'm asking.

are you sure you tried the default?
again, use accessdiver to bruteforce it.
On linux? Use hydra ;)

Poz, I'm on an XP box.
I tried AccessDriver but I dont see how it works, like I am trying to get it to crack 192.168.1.1 but it isn't doing anything.
Also, AccessDriver came with a lot of extra bullshit, :( Weatherbug and Search and shit. *sigh* NIS took care of them, but normally I avoid such things.

Have you tried to figure it out yourself with researching yet? Don't think so. It's not really hard to find an answer through google.
You could also just read the manual of Accessdiver, I think that's the main reason for the antilaziness-reminder of mine. Don't feel offended
Accessdiver isn't really hard to use, except you are lazy. Try to get some documentations.

I'm offended. :( lol j/k I know, I was lazy and I'm sorry. I googed it and came across something and tried to get into the router. Well needless to say I think I fucked it because I had no internet once I started running AccessDiver. So, I had to switch to another wireless network to post this. :)Tenchuu wrote:Have you tried to figure it out yourself with researching yet? Don't think so. What just happened, do you know based on what I just told you?
And the rock idea... If I could just locate this router lol

I think of 2 possibilities:
1. You've been blocked from the router due to too many password attempts
2. You've ddosed it due to too heavy cracking attempts
Is the Network still available? If no, ok. If yes, the possibility that you are blocked is higher
Have you tried restarting the router?

I dont have physical access to the router. And yes, the router is still emitting signal.Tenchuu wrote:I think of 2 possibilities:

OK Bruteforcing won't work then. You could try to sniff the password with something like Cain&Able but for this you'd have to force the owner to log onto his router.
Could also be that the password is encrypted. But that's something I don`t know.
Just change your MAC Address and relog onto the router.
Then activate the Sniffer on Cain and try to logon to the admin console. If Cain sniffes a password, it's not encrypted
Now if the owner logs on, you have the password
EDIT:
Checked it now with my WG614 Router. As expected, the password is just common HTTP Authentication which means it's not encrypted. Cain works just fine
