Laptop Charger (I know, the most annoying thing)

I bought a universal laptop charger, I took good care of it and then one day it stopped working (this is after roughly 3 months). I bought a new hardrive for a very old laptop (I equipped the hard drive with Linux, Ubuntu). So now, I can't use the hard drive or the charger (because my laptop requires a charge, duh). Does anyone know how to fix a universal laptop charger?
