Hello world?
Am a newbie and most of my net access is behind a school proxy firewall which filters practically everything.
I recently started using a shell tunnel (sileceisdefeat using putty(windows)) and all was well until a week ago.
Ive tried tor/ultrasurf....not my cup of tea ill say.
Please advice/recommend a tool that can be of help.

What happened a week ago that made putty stop being an option?
Besides tunneling it really depends on the permissions you have on those computers. If you can install stuff you can try a VPN for example. Or maybe the tor browser bundle.

Re: By pass proxyfirewall
Did you connect to that server on port 22? Your network admins may have just blocked that then.
I'd suggest looking for a host that allows you to connect to your ssh session over port 443. Since that's the default port for https it can't reasonably be blocked if they want to maintain a functional browsing experience.

I had connected via port 443 and 22. I have just tried tor and ultrasurf and they have been blocked as well. My search is directing me toward vpn

Re: By pass proxyfirewall
You could see if they don't block that server you were tunneling trough by DNS request. In that case you'll still be able to connect by just using the IP address. It should resolve to 63.246.141.158 (That's what it resolves to here)

Re: By pass proxyfirewall
If they allow you access to a command prompt you can use nslookup.
Besides that you can just see if it allows you to connect with putty using that IP address instead of the domain name.
